Self Harm Recovery
Going about Self Harm Recovery is a challenging way to recover but very rewarding. These are just some of the ways you can recover, and remember you can do as many of these as you want.
There are loads of ways to go about this.
For example you could try The Butterfly Project, click the link to be taken to a blog for The Butterfly Project where the rules and support for it can be found.
You could also try the drawing a heart on your wrist in orange (the colour of self harm) every time you want to self harm.
There is The Bracelet Project, which is about showing support but you add white beads to your bracelet when you are in recovery. Really, it’s a flexible scheme and you can do what you want with it.
Also The Paper Chain Project is yet another one you can try which I really like personally. Everyday you put a ring on your paper chain and if you have a relapse you add a white ring (I think?) and then you carry on with your chain the next day.
You can try something called “Wristpiration” which is where you print off loads of pictures of clean scar/cut free wrists or whatever other body part where you cut and whenever you have the urge to self harm, you look at these pictures.
You can ask a friend to make you a bracelet and when you finally decide that you are never going to self harm again you put it on and never take it off.
You can get a doll and whenever you want to hurt yourself you get a red marker pen and draw on the doll where you want to self harm.
You can start up a recovery blog on Tumblr, dedicated wholly to your journey with self harm recovery, reblogging pictures and openly talking about your own feelings any time in the day. And you can build up a support network on there.
Going down the similar road, set up a YouTube channel and do the same thing.
Make daily vlogs and document your journey and whenever you’re feeling bad you can go back and watch the days where you’re having a “good day”.
Find a self harm recovery buddy who you can call or email or text when you have urges and have a chat with them. This will also be rewarding when they ring you and you can help them out it will make you feel good.
